Cruiseportguide Aruba

Aruba

Aruba is a gem of the Dutch Antilles, renowned for its white sandy beaches and turquoise waters. Home to approximately 107,000 inhabitants, the island offers a fascinating blend of Caribbean flair and European influence. The capital, Oranjestad, is famous for its bright, pastel-colored architecture in the Dutch colonial style.

Due to its dry climate, Aruba features a unique landscape filled with cacti and iconic Divi-divi trees. A major highlight is Eagle Beach, consistently ranked among the world’s most beautiful beaches. Beyond the coast, the Arikok National Park invites exploration. Aruba is widely considered one of the safest and most welcoming destinations in the Caribbean

The port

The Aruba cruise port is located in the charming capital, Oranjestad, and is considered one of the most visitor-friendly ports in the Caribbean. With its four modern berths, it is so centrally located that passengers are right in the heart of the action as soon as they step off the ship. Colorful colonial buildings, luxury boutiques, and cozy cafés are just a few steps away.

A special highlight is the free, historic Oranjestad Trolley, which starts right at the port exit and takes visitors through the main shopping streets. For explorers, the port is also the ideal starting point to reach world-famous beaches like Eagle Beach by taxi or the local bus (Arubus).

On foot

The port is very centrally located. The capital, Oranjestad, with its 30,000 inhabitants, is within easy walking distance. Once you leave the secure port area, you are directly at the bus station and Lloyd G. Smith Boulevard, which offers various restaurants and diverse shopping opportunities.

Shuttle buses

Due to its proximity to the city, no shuttle buses are provided in Oranjestad.

Public transport

The Arubus departs from the bus station and stops at the hotels along the beaches. It is a convenient way to reach the famous Eagle Beach. You can find the current fares on their website

Trackless train

The Downtown Trolleys run between the cruise port and the center of Oranjestad. You can hop on and off at six different stops. This trolley train is free of charge.

Taxis

Taxis are available in front of Berths B and C. Information boards display available destinations and fixed rates. Please note that prices are always per taxi, not per person.

Car rental

Since taxis and buses are a convenient and affordable alternative in Aruba, rental cars play a secondary role. There are no rental car offices located directly at the port. However, Jeeparuba is situated near the harbor; there, you can both rent a Jeep and book a Jeep Safari. Numerous providers are located at the airport, and a taxi ride there costs approximately 25 dollars
