Cruiseport Guide Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik is one of the most popular destinations for Adriatic cruises departing from Venice. In 1991, Dubrovnik was heavily bombarded by the Yugoslav People's Army and suffered extensive destruction. Thanks to support from UNESCO, the city has been restored and shines brightly today, with only isolated traces of the attacks still visible. Dubrovnik was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site as early as 1979, and for good reason. The city captivates visitors with beautiful narrow streets and historic buildings, all of which tell a story.

The port

Cruise ships in Dubrovnik dock at the Port of Gruž, which is approximately 3 km away from the Old Town. Several ships can moor one after another along the long pier. Another berth is located near the bridge leading to the Lapad Peninsula. The port houses the Tourist Information centre and several souvenir stalls. Shuttle buses and shore excursion buses are located directly at the pier. The bus station is situated to the right of the port exit.

on foot

The distance to the Old Town is 3 km, and the walk takes approximately 45 minutes.

Shuttle buses

Paid shuttle buses are available at the pier and operate between the port and Brsalje Square (in front of the Pile Gate) near the Old Town.  The shuttle costs approximately €10 per person and, at least in your case, was divided into time slots.

Taxis

Taxis are readily available directly at the pier and travel to Brsalje Square, just like the shuttle buses. In 2017, the one-way fare cost €14. Sightseeing tours can also be booked, starting at approximately €50. You can find prices here.

Public transportation

The bus station is located directly to the right after the port exit, where you will also find a currency exchange office, an ATM, and a ticket counter. More information can be found here. Bus lines 1a, 1b, and 1c run regularly to Brsalje Square, from where you can enter the Old Town directly through the city gate.

Rental Cars and more

If you turn right at the port exit, you will reach the Dubrovnik Travel Center after just a few hundred meters. Here, you can rent cars, scooters, and even boats, or book various excursions. Additionally, the rental company Sixt has a station located at the Hotel Rixos.

Cable Car

Those who wish to take the cable car up to the local mountain, Srđ, should leave Dubrovnik through the Ploče Gate and will reach the station after 400 meters. Tickets can be purchased in advance on the website, where you can also find the current prices.

By bike

If you are looking for a more active experience in Dubrovnik, Baja Bikes is the place to go. Here, you can both rent bicycles and book guided city tours led by local guides.
