Cruisport Guide Cannes

Cannes

Cannes, with its population of 74,000, is one of the most popular seaside resorts on the Côte d'Azur. Cannes is famous for the annual Film Festival, which has been held here since 1946. A highlight is strolling along the beautifully designed promenade, while in the old town, the Notre-Dame de l'Espérance Church and the old quarter with its narrow, winding alleys attract tourists. From here, you have a wonderful view of the marina and Cannes.

Many cruise ship passengers also start their shore excursions from Cannes to visit the neighboring cities of Nice and Monaco.

The port

Cannes does not have a port where a cruise ship can dock; it is a tender port. The ship anchors offshore and passengers are taken to the Port of Cannes using the tender boats.

There is also a Tourist Information office there where you can get city maps.

Cannes can be explored very well on foot. After leaving the port, you are directly below the old town, which invites you to stroll through its small alleys. Following the harbor leads you directly to the beautiful promenade and the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès.

on foot

Cannes can be explored very well on foot. The distances to the main sights are not far, although the old town in particular is hilly. Starting from the port, the distances to the most important sights and the train station are:

  • Palais des Festivals et des Congrès: approx. 1 km, following the harbor

  • Église Notre-Dame de l'Espérance: approx. 600 m

  • Carlton Hotel: approx. 1.7 km

The bus drives through the city, and the route can be recognized by the blue lines on the street. Where the lines are interrupted, you will find the boarding points. Palm Imperial Bus

The open-top double-decker bus on Line 8 departs from the tender boat landing area. The buses travel along the Boulevard de la Croisette to the other end of the bay, the Pointe Croisette. There are various stops along the route, and the ticket costs €1.50.
