Akureyri is a popular destination for nature lovers and provides a friendly atmosphere that delights visitors from around the world.

The Port

The cruise port in Akureyri has several berths. The main dock is Oddeyrarbryggja 12, but some cruise lines also use Tangabryggja 11, which is located right next door. Here you can see where your ship will be docked.

At Oddeyrarbryggja, there is the Cruise Service Center, where you can find free Wi-Fi and city maps.

The tourist information office is located at the Hof Cultural and Conference Center. Some local providers also welcome you directly at the harbor in small wooden booths.

On foot

The Akureyri Center is just under one kilometer from the harbor and easily accessible on foot for exploration. The tourist information website provides tips for excursions and city tours.

Shuttlebusse

Due to the proximity to the city, no shuttle buses are operated in Akureyri. Alternatively, you can use the free buses in Akureyri to get into the city.

Buses

When cruise ships are docked in the harbor, buses for city tours are available. Stops 2 and 3 are located very close to the two berths. The tour lasts approximately 45 minutes, costs around 2,000 Icelandic Krona, and is similar to a hop-on-hop-off service, allowing passengers to get on and off at any time.

The public buses in Akureyri are free of charge. Here you can find the individual bus lines and schedules. All lines depart from behind the Hof Culture Center.

Rental Car

Many beautiful destinations are easily accessible on your own by rental car. Europcar has an office at the harbor.

You can find some car rental companies in the small wooden booths at the harbor exit.

Taxis

Taxis are available at the harbor. There are also signs indicating the possible tours. The options are limited, so it is highly recommended to make a reservation via the website. The BSO office is located along the direct route into the city.
