Portinformation Livorno

The port

Livorno, with its approximately 160,000 inhabitants, has little to offer on its own. However, as Italy's third-largest port, it serves as an ideal starting point for excursions to Pisa and Florence, making it very popular for Mediterranean cruises. Two of the four piers feature cruise terminals equipped with Wi-Fi, small dining options, and services provided by the local tourist information office.

On foot

It is prohibited to move around on foot in the port of Livorno.

Shuttle buses

Free shuttle buses operate regularly between the cruise terminal and Livorno. The stop is located at Piazza Municipio / corner of Via Claudio Cogorano. From there, it is approximately 2.5 km to Livorno train station.

Public transportation

From the Livorno train station, you can reach Pisa in about 20 minutes, and Florence in approximately one and a half hours. The train to Pisa is quite crowded until you arrive there, but it becomes noticeably more comfortable afterward. Please allow sufficient buffer time for possible delays. Ticket prices and travel durations vary depending on the connection. The round trip for two people starts at €21.60. We recommend purchasing your tickets online in advance, as the ticket machines at the station can get quite busy. You can search for connections and book tickets through Trenitalia.

Taxis

Taxis are available at both cruise terminals, but they prefer to offer tours of the surrounding area at flat rates. Short trips are unpopular and therefore relatively expensive; for the short ride to the train station, a minimum of €25 is charged.

Hop on hop off

There is a Hop-on Hop-off bus in Livorno that takes you to all the main sights, allowing you to explore the city at your own pace. The second option is a Hop-on Hop-off bus that connects Livorno with Florence or Pisa. These tours last eight and five hours, respectively. The buses depart near the shuttle bus stops. Staff members of the Hop-on Hop-off buses will be waiting for you at the shuttle bus stops.
