Portoferraio

Portoferraio, the charming harbor town on Elba, is a popular destination for cruise travelers. The historic old town impresses with its narrow alleys, medieval fortifications, and the impressive Fort Stella. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views from Monte Capannelle or relax in the picturesque cafés by the harbor. Elba’s crystal-clear waters invite refreshing swims, while the local cuisine, featuring fresh fish and regional specialties, delights guests. Portoferraio perfectly combines history, nature, and relaxation. A trip to Napoleon’s residence or a hike in the surrounding nature rounds off an unforgettable day on Elba.

In Portoferraia, tendering takes place, so you should keep this in mind when planning your shore excursions, as there may be longer wait times during tendering. Nicko organized the tender process very well; they issued tender tickets to avoid queues in the stairwells, which worked very smoothly. Please allow for a small time buffer in your schedule.

Villa dei Mullini

Napoleon Bonaparte had a significant influence on Elba, a small island in the Mediterranean. After his defeat at Leipzig in 1813, he was exiled in 1814 and granted the island of Elba as a principality. There, he was able to expand his power, improve infrastructure, and implement reforms. Napoleon used the island as a base to pursue his political and military ambitions. His stay on Elba had economic and cultural impacts, as he introduced modern administrative systems and modernized the infrastructure. Despite his exile, Napoleon remained an important figure, and his presence on Elba continued to have lasting effects.

Restaurant di Gianni

We had already chosen this restaurant at home, as it has excellent reviews—and rightly so. We enjoyed excellent service and very tasty food. For fish lovers, the waiter brings a selection of freshly caught fish to the table, allowing you to see the different options. We felt like having bruschetta, orecchiette, and finally, a good tiramisu. If we ever dock in Portoferraio again, we will definitely return.
